The best and most natural way to learn a language is to listen to it. I always recommend to surround yourself with the language. If you can't immerse yourself in the culture where the language is spoken, or you simply don't have the time for it, listening to music, radio, and audiobooks is a great way to get used to the sound of the language, broaden your comprehension of the language in a passive way.
One shouldn't underestimate this passive input!
Through active listening you will not only learn the sounds of the language (phonology), the intonation, the accents, the tone, the rhythm of the language (cfr. prosody), but also the vocabulary, the many meanings of a word (semantics), the word structure (morphology) and sentence structure (syntax).
I will share some of the resources I recommend to my clients and students. – Which ones would you add? Please let me know by mailing me at info@UtesInternationalLounge.com.
